Moong Dal recipe

Dal is the most popular Indian cuisine. It is prepared in every Indian state. The dals are prepared using a variety of dals. The dals range from black gram, pigeon peas, split green gram etc. These dals are not just delicious but good for health. Here we shall learn how to prepare Moong Dal.

Items required:

  • Half cup split green gram soaked for half an hour.
  • Half teaspoon chilli powder.
  • Half teaspoon turmeric powder.
  • 1 large tomato.
  • 1 green chilly.
  • Coriander leaves.
  • Salt as per taste.

Items for tampering:

  • Oil as per requirement for tampering.
  • Cumin seeds – half teaspoon.
  • Flakes of garlic – 3.
  • Curry leaves 6-7.

Method of preparation

  • Add two glasses of water in the soaked dal and pressure cook it .
  • Next add the green chillies, tomatoes and coriander leaves.
  • Now add all the masala and salt.
  • Now pressure cook the moong dal upto 2-3 whistles.
  • Once the dal is cooked remove the dal into the kadhai for seasoning .
  • Splutter the cumin seeds along with rest of seasoning. Serve with rice or rotis.
